Blank Scene Divider

It would be nice if one of the scene divider options was just a blank line, in addition to the standard options (Boxes, Line, Wave, Heart). There's plenty of times when you want to start a new scene in a chapter, but not have the hard visual break that you get with the existing dividers.

Scene dividers are kind of a "must" in the sense that even if there's no visual indicator, the gap will have the same height nonetheless... do you want no divider just to not have the line there, or would you rather love to have no gap at all?

spaceemotion Personally a blank gap the same height as the current options would be enough for me, but I'm sure some people could find a use for a "gapless" divider, too, depending on how they want to break things up for the AI. And just to clarify, the reason I'd like a blank gap divider is because I feel that such a divider reads differently than a more pronounced divider, such as a line or a wave. When I'm writing back-to-back scenes, especially in the case of on-going action, I feel like a blank gap as the scene divider better implies that back-to-back nature to a reader, whereas a more pronounced divider, such as a line or wave, implies more of hard break or passage of time to the reader.

Zestful Cardinal: hmm, do you mean that scenes should be able to be set to "gap" or "gapless" mode? cause right now the divider settings are global (and not even on a book level - it's for your display only, nothing else)

spaceemotion Like I said, I'd be fine with a standard gap, just without a visible line (boxes, line, wave, heart) sometimes. Or, if there was just an action button to "hide" a specific divider. I realize that the dividers are just for our own view, but when reviewing your work I think it helps to be able to read it back to yourself in a similar way to what will be presented to a reader. For myself, when I'm writing action and want to jump to another character's POV, in addition to starting a new paragraph, I'll also proceed the paragraph with a blank line. In Novelcrafter, right now, I can do that by just hitting enter a few times, but then that means that this new section is still part of the same scene, despite the change in character POV, which can sometimes be harder for the AI to handle. I'd prefer to start a new "scene" whenever I switch POV, but not have to always have a hard, visible divider, if that makes sense.

I wish we could have other options also. Not just a blank line, please.

Ivory Dormouse: What other options would you like to see? We had some internal alternative versions, but were unsure what people wanted to see... more fantasy/scifi/romance/minimal....?

spaceemotion Sorry it took so long to reply. Hurricane got in the way. Mainly I was just hoping for more anything. Genre specific, more organic (instead of hard lines and boxes), just anything beyond the four we have now. It's probably really hard because everyone has a preference. Me personally, I would want something with much more... detail, size, etc. Make it really noticeable that it's a scene divider you know. Sorry, I know this probably isn't very helpful but mainly I am asking for more choices that's all.

spaceemotion just a basic line (no decoration) would be great, or a dashed line. Thanks.
