Commenting function on prose

Isn’t this now the Sections in the Writing section?
spaceemotion
Lavender Dolphin: Not quite! The sections are also there for you to section of things, or to exclude from AI. A proper commenting system (to either leave notes to yourself, or from others) is still planned.

Sidenotes in write view
P

As I write, or re-read work, ideas spawn or something occurs that I will need to tend too.
The ability to make a note in the scene, enabling me to move on immediately would be wonderful, it would significantly improve workflow.
Snippets are useful but they do not appear to be capable of relationships.
Opening and then closing a snippet is distracting.
Unless you write a reference to scene and/or chapter in the snippet, it is merely an unrelated item in a
list? (Unless I've missed something :-) )
My first search for note insertion in a scene was forward slash / to see if I could add a note from there, it seemed to be the most intuitive place to find note capability.
Note insertion would be near instance, then move on......
In summary, could an in-scene note-adding capability be added?
A SCENE BEAT style box for notes would be good, the only difference being the note box should be ignored by scene beats, for continuity's sake.
Thoughts.

Adding comments and notes
B
Blush Swallow
Ability to add comments and notes in 'Write' mode, for instance by selecting text and choosing a 'comment' option in the inline menu. Comments could be displayed in the right hand margin, under the summary etc. Also, ability to chose whether the AI can access these notes or not (I'm guessing it's best if it doesn't, or there should be some prompt that makes sure it doesn't get confused by this additional layer of text).

Commenting and share for review

Mint Dinosaur
Share the Book for review like a kindle book. read only but a comment and hightlight funktion. To get comments to work on later.

It would be perfect if this scene-specific comment or note were effectively a snippet - a change currently under review. It would be very helpful if comments, notes or snippets related to specific scenes were visible when in write mode, say, below the scene synopsis.

About the paid plans - will it be possible for a commenter to access our text without a paid plan and add comments? That would be very useful for beta readers and editors. Although there should be some way to identify such commenters - perhaps the author could give access using their emails?
spaceemotion
Wenge Dingo: Yeah so that's kind of what makes this a bit hard:
- Commenting is essentially editing the scene, but viewers aren't really allowed to do any edits. So I would have to do an "intelligent authorization" to do so.
- Users are already tracked in the system. In fact, if you have an editor in your project, their scene or codex edits are tracked by their account. Comments will be the same.

Hey spaceemotion, because we talked about this a while ago: Couldn't the snippets section be the place for comments? Every comment could be a snippet, that would be linked to a text passage.
spaceemotion
Saffron Hummingbird: No, comments are totally different to snippets. Snippets will get an upgrade soon, and comments will get extra stuff that has to be handled differently too.

spaceemotion: okay, nice!

It would also be great to be able to do this on Tinker results.
spaceemotion
Random Macaw: Do you mean this as inline comments? or as "note bubbles" inside the chat, that are not visible to the AI?
R
Random Macaw
spaceemotion: I was thinking note bubbles not visible to the AI. That way I could leave myself notes like "Expand this later" or "These results are from Claude 2." I know we have the NOTES tab, but something directly attached to the part of the results I'm referring to would be helpful. Thanks!

This would be a useful feature.

This feature is essential for me. Can't work without it.
