Chat input field contents duplicated in other past chats

If I add some text to the input field for the main chat and then click on a past chat from the left-hand Chats panel, I see the text I was just adding to the main chat window also in the old chats input field.

This is happening because the current question is being shared across all the open chats. Need to think about how to make this easier.
