The Beat: [fast-paced dialogue] Anna made straight for the first solider in the carpark, there were two. He'd not registered her as threat as she was dressed official uniform. The thought of deceit never entered his brain, unlike the knife that she threw. That lodged directly into his eye and out the back. He was dead before his brain, or body had time to register it. The outcome: ============== Harry tasted blood and metal. The pistol’s impact had rattled his teeth, stars exploding behind his eyes. He blinked, trying to focus on the blurry shapes looming over him. Two SS guards, their faces impassive, dragged him through a maze of corridors, the stone walls cold against his bruised skin. “Where is Schneider?” a voice barked, close to his ear. It was Carl, the brother. Harry could smell the man’s expensive cologne, a sickeningly sweet scent that mingled with the stench of disinfectant. “Don’t know any Schneider,” Harry rasped, spitting out a mouthful of blood. He needed to stall, to assess. Carl stopped, looming over him. “Don’t play coy, Englishman. My brother was… indisposed. A vehicle, a woman. Ring any bells?” “Maybe,” Harry said, deliberately vague. “I pick up a lot of vehicles. Tried over 2 days, in the hope that what ever context window I had would expire. Tried deleting the beat, and recreating it.
