Extract option AI tools fixed?

I have set up my default AI model options, including a model collection, but the AI Extract tool (write interface) to populate the codex is not offering me my prefered models or model collection.

Not sure I am understanding things correctly, are you referring to the "Extract" feature we have for Chats and snippets? 'cause there's no extract in the Write view. That feature also doesn't use any AI whatsoever.

The one that does use AI is the "Detect Characters" option on scenes, which should offer you to select a model - and yes, that list is indeed fixed (it's a legacy feature we hope to replace, and it only works with specific models, that's why).

spaceemotion Thank you - and apologies for my poor use of terminology. The problem arose because I have set Novelcrafter up using free models while I get the hang of things and make workflow decisions, and didn't want to waste money when the speed or quality of the AI output is not an issue. As you guessed, I came across the legacy issue when trying to populate the codex with characters from imported text. Thanks for your time.

I would rather use the discord site, but your invitation insists that I need to claim an account, then tells me my email address is already registered. If you have any insight into that I would be grateful - clearly I can't raise it as a bug! Discord is new territory for me.
